MINING REGULATIONS PASSED!
The springs in Levy,
County, Florida, are now protected by the new mining regulations that the County
Commissioners passed tonight by a vote of 4 - 1. The one vote against the
mining regulations was by Commissioner Foley who worked for White Construction
Company for many years. A spokesman for White Construction promised that
if the mining regulations were passed they would sue the county. The
county attorney advised the commissioners the regulations were defensible.
We may be facing a lawsuit but as of now the SPRINGS OF LEVY COUNTY are
protected.
We are so thankful for all the support, the phone calls, emails and faxes and
financial contributions. It made all the difference and those of you
who showed up helped the commissioners do the right thing. This proved to
me that community action can work.
Thanks again and please come visit Manatee State Park!!
