Nitrate Pollution Map - In Relation to Manatee Springs State Park

The topographical map depicted below, shows the origin of the pollution and the areas effected. There are 34 private wells shown on this map, all with moderate and high levels of Nitrates. They all exist in the path of groundwater flow from the proposed lime rock mine to the Suwannee River. The Suwannee River is less than 1 - mile from this proposed site, and the Spring is less than 2 - miles.

These wells are unusable, and are utilized only for groundwater monitoring.

"The data for this map was derived from a report from the Florida Department of Environmental Regulation (now DEP), the Gainesville Sun and the Chiefland Citizen newspapers, and reports from local citizens who lived on property contiguous to White Farms."
